Remember my take on how Timeless interior design and decor is evolving further? As we get comfy in this era, the generation Z aka Gen Z are keeping us on our toes by taking over the maximalist decor style and running with it.
If you do not know what I mean, then you have not read my post on Timeless Interior decor. Take a peek to see what I mean.
What colors would you splash on if you were to turn you home in to a dopamine maximalism cacoon?
Empowered by individuality and freedom of expression, I feel the Gen Z are triggering an evolution of these timeless decor and design styles which comprise of maximalism, eclectic, vintage and bohemian interior design.
Personally I am celebrating; gone are the days of the dull grey interiors. Life is challenging as it is. We should create fun and cheerful environments surrounded by things we create, collect and love. These types of ambiances encourage production of the happy hormones such as dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins.
Why is this a good thing? Stress is reduced allowing us to be creative. One other happy hormone produced when we are happy is oxytocin which is a love hormone. I believe If there is more love spread around the world, it will become a better place.
When you are in a happy place your mind has time to be creative allowing you to have small or big achievements and goals. During this stage your mind secretes the hormone dopamine which has many health benefits for your body. Lack of these type of hormones are what causes health issues such as Parkinson's, mental health, obesity and types of inflammation which also causes other health conditions.
It is interesting how we minimize the importance of having spaces with ambiances that make us relaxed and happy. Your spaces that you spend most time in like your home, your office MUST be healing and rejuvenating physically and spiritually. Another interior design that can help you achieve this is the bohemian decor.
According to many sources, Gen Zs are finding their parents, “Millennials” era, blunt and boring. In New York, they are calling the Millennials Cheugy, which is a term used for those who they deem lame and unhip. Gen Zs Will also use terms search as, “They are totally Cringe”.
If you have not been living under a rock, then just like the rest of us, you have noticed these enchanting Gen Z interior maximalist decor trends popping up in the interior world.
