Hi Lovelies, welcome to another day in my Atelier section, where I share my love for art with you. If you have read my previous art posts, such as the water colour flowers and the mixed media art, you will know I am throwing myself back into painting and creating as an adult. Something I am really enjoying and wishing I had returned to sooner.
Is there anything in your life you wish you could start again or resume?
Today I am sharing with you a small creation: more practice with Micron and marker pens. Another newfound love in addition to watercolors. I used a painting by Bronwyn Royce, one of the Artists who has inspired my confidence in reference to this mode of painting. I find her creations really charming, so I chose this simple cottage door to practice.
Who inspires you the most regarding your life or a hobby that you love so much?
As the heading points out, I used Micron pens together with marker pens. Starting by sketching the cottage. Sketching with Micron pens is something that has always fascinated me, and I decided to start with small projects.

Lets jueje up this sketch with some colour. Remember, you can use watercolor paint. In my case, after seeing beautiful work created using marker pens, I was determined to learn and explore marker pens.

The trick is to ensure you blend the strokes of the marker pen so that they do not appear harsh or visible.

Use different shades to show shadows on the object itself depending on where the light is facing. See below

You can create shadows using different shades of the colour where the specific images shadow will potentially fall. As seen in the image below, it sits on the grass but shows that it falls on the paved path. I played with different gray shades for the outline of where the shadow should be.

Remember, the shadow is always in the opposite direction. If the light is on the right, the shadow falls below on the left of that light and image. I hope this makes sense.
A shadow has been created by the pot and plant on the left of the pot on the ground.
Sketching with Micron pens is so much fun. The images can be perfect, similar to structures sketched by architects, or playful. In my case, I was going for the cartoon playful image by my favorite artist Bronwyn Royce who's works is playful and charming . What would be your style?
I enjoyed practicing my art skills with this painting, I was super excited about the results; it was such a joyous activity I could not wait to try it out again. See my other projects. How do you think I did? Charming..... or?
